Robert and Tammy are going to get a smile makeover from Dr. Simmons.
ROBERT: I’ve been from dentist to dentist to dentist. And they’ve looked at my situation, and it seems like all that’s really happened is that they’ve kind of cosmetized it. I don’t have a bright smile. And also it’s because my teeth have ground down so short. I’ve used products, I don’t know, tooth whiteners. I’ve gone to the dentist where he fitted me with what they call a splint to try to straighten them out. And all these different concoctions out there, and they’ve—to me they just have never really worked.
I was in a coffee shop, and I was reading the local paper, and I had seen the ad there. And it said to call this number. And so I called the number, and he said, “Well, you need to write an essay on why do you want a different smile.”
I guess when I spot someone the first thing that I notice is their smile. I think that a great and attractive smile tells a lot about the person and what’s inside. Every morning that I face the mirror, I spend a lot of time getting my hair the way I want, but there always has been that one thing I see. And that’s that unattractive smile. I know that having an unattractive smile would bring out even more of my personality. If I feel good about myself and my new smile, I know everyone around me will smile, too. And maybe that’s what it’s all about.
