Robert and Tammy are going to get a smile makeover from Dr. Simmons.
ROBERT: I’m a television photojournalist. It’s really important, especially in my job and my line of work to where I greet people and make them feel comfortable. And I think if you have a decent smile and it puts people at ease. I think people like me a lot because of who I am and the personality. I, myself, don’t think I have a smile that fits my personality. I’m very outgoing. I’m 40 years old. There’s people that tell me I don’t look 40. And—but my smile does not look 40. It actually looks older. When I smile now it’s almost I’ve had to train that smile in a way. The other day a friend of mine, we were talking about smile and white teeth and everything like that. And he says, “Oh, Rob,” he says, “You never smile anyways.” And I’ve had people say that is that, “That’s kind of a fake smile.” And I say, “Well, yeah, it is,” because I’m ashamed of my teeth. I’m not ashamed to say it. But, I don’t like my smile. They’re not aligned right. The appearance I don’t care for at all. And I’ve got—I’ve got a destructive bite. The teeth in the back aren’t lining up right, so what’s been happening—and I’ve been dealing with it for about five years now. I’ve been breaking fillings because my bite has been so off-center. And it’s painful. It’s really painful. And I’m the one that looks in that mirror in the morning, and I know it’s me. But, so see a new smile, I think that’s something that you have—you have to flaunt it. To have a new smile, I think, is something that people will see and say, “There’s a nice guy.” And it’s going to change the way I express myself.”
